What is a Mathlett?

Mathletts are special games designed to reinforce the learning of key mathematical principles contained in the National Curriculum. The format of each of the games has been developed to encourage the understanding of mathematics by stimulating interactive communication between pupils and enabling them to "learn maths the fun way".

There is a range of different Mathlett Modules available, each module dealing with a specific aspect of the curriculum.

Why Mathletts?

Mathletts is a fun way of learning maths.

It is a stimulating, practical way of consolidating the teaching of the National Curriculum that can significantly improve number work.
Pupils are motivated to engage with mathematics.
By using the interaction between pupils it is a novel form of assessment and oral communication that encourages the checking of answers and stimulates "mental" agility for numbers

"Attractive and robust...As a tool for self and peer-assesment this product is excellent, and gives a chance to listen to what students are saying...Highly motivating...fun,fun,fun" TES, June 2003

    Who are they designed for?

Mathletts are aimed at Key Stage 2, 3 and can be used up to Key Stage 4. Pupils will need to have been taught the basic requirements of the curriculum before playing the games. Mathletts will reinforce this teaching and significantly improve the learning and proficiency of the pupils.

"The games bring in a new way of learning, it makes maths fun" Robert Leigh, Y7, Desborough
